Eduserver - Education in Germany - German Education Server

Eduserver, the English language version of the German Education Server, provides access to documents and background information regarding the German education system and its international context. From 3 to 14 November 2025, the German Education Server (Deutscher Bildungsserver - DBS) will be hosting its action weeks on the topic of ‘Future Skills – Learning for the Future. Living the Future’.

During the two action weeks, you can find out more about future skills in topic-specific dossiers, interviews, our databases, on social media – in short, in all our offerings.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m., we also invite you to attend a series of online lectures. You can look forward to presentations by experts on future skills: across all areas of education, in schools, in the world of work and from the perspective of young people – free of charge and freely accessible. Please note that these will only be held in German

With these action weeks, the German Education Server aims to promote exchange between education stakeholders and interested parties and provide practical impetus on current education topics. In view of the diverse changes and upheavals currently taking place in society, the world of work and education, we are therefore dedicating these two weeks to what are known as ‘future skills’.

This dossier presents sources available in English on the topic of future skills in Germany. The discussion on future skills in Germany is driven by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany), the management consultancy McKinsey, and the Bertelsmann Foundation. The topic of future skills is not without controversy in Germany.
