The DIPF profile contains two focal areas of activity, i.e. educational information and educational research. Tasks in the area of educational information are mainly covered by the Information Centre for Education and the Libraries for History of Education and Educational Research while tasks in the area of educational research are mainly addressed by the Teacher and Teaching Quality Cenntre, Department of Educational Governance, and Center for Education and Development. The five centres co-operate when performing general tasks. As a member of the Leibniz Association of non-university research institutions, the DIPF is jointly funded by the federal government and the governments of the federal states.
