Relaunch 2017: Integration of the portal "Education Worldwide" into the "German Education Server" (Deutscher Bildungsserver – DBS)
As of September 12, 2017, the portal "Education Worldwide" does not only appear in a new design, it is now integrated into the German Education Server. "Education Worldwide" is a thematic catalogue of the German Education Server. The following explanations and screenshots highlight the most important changes.
The old and the new website of Education Worldwide
You will still be able to access Education Worldwide via www.education-worldwide.de. But you can also find Education Worldwide among the thematic catalogues in the drop-down menu of the German Education Server. Please find out below why this menu is in German only.
General navigation and menu
One major change when integrating one portal into another is the change of the navigation and menu bar(s). Education Worldwide has adopted the menu of the "German Education Server" (DBS) which is available in German only.
Navigating "Education Worldwide" in English
Due to the integration of "Education Worldwide" into the "German Education Server", the general menu is only in German. If you wish to navigate Education Worldwide in English, you have two options, depending on whether you are on the homepage or on a sub-page.
On the homepage of "Education Worldwide"
The new homepage displays access points from the old menu at different position.
On sub-pages of "Education Worldwide"
You can use the breadcrumbs at the top of the page to navigate.
English and German information – the two language flags
You may have noticed the two language flags at two different positions on our website. English and German both appear in the menu and the main part of the page.
The Union Jack on the left at the top of the page, is labelled "Eduserver", it leads to information on the German education system in English. "Eduserver" is a specialised thematic catalogue (website).
The language flag (German / English) on the right between the two orange lines only appears when you are in the section "Education Worldwide". It leads you to a direct translation of the Education Worldwide pages.
