The 17 Goals were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which set out a 15-year plan to achieve the Goals (UN 2022).

The collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations were developed to replace the Millennium Development Goals which ended in 2015. Unlike the MDGs, the SDG framework does not distinguish between ʺdevelopedʺ and ʺdevelopingʺ nations (2018).
